This song may have one of the oldest origins out of anything on this album. Around the year 2001 I wrote a number of instrumental songs for 2 guitars with my friend /college dorm neighbor Dave Langner. We played the guitar parts of this song for a number of years before finally recording it around 2003. For some reason that I can't recall, I sent the guitars to my friend Aloeight aka Granola aka JR aka Fredo DeLa Cruz who added drums. The beat sat in computer limbo til around 2007 when I finally added some heavy synths and recorded the lyrics to "Death Cake". I repeated the last lines because I thought they were particularly funny.

make sure to bake a death cake
and celebrate the end of waste
with your barbarian friends in their yellowing birthday suits

crack open a dinosaur piñata
and pass out goodie bags of nose candy

don't forget to put a bucket near your bed
just in case the grim reaper forgets
to take you out that night
don't even try to put up a fight
pin the tail on the donkey and shut the fuck up

before you die
make sure to bake a death cake

it's my death day
and i'll cry if I want to

put my ashes in a huge pixie stick
and make my girlfriend snort the whole thing
mix the rest with gun powder
put it bullets
and shoot my critics in the face so they can finally feel me
I don't give a fuck
I want the last laugh
sample my chuckles
throw them on a laugh track
don't toss me into the ocean or in the sky
if I wanted to swim or fly I'd try harder to survive
